Dr Mário Carneiro: Chaves Thermal Spa dedicates exhibition to its first Clinical Director

Documents, photographs and personal belongings make up the exhibition dedicated to Dr Mário Carneiro, the first Clinical Director of Chaves Thermal Spa, on display to the public until 31 January at the Flaviense Spa.

The initiative marks his birth month, offering visitors an intimate look at the life and career of one of the most significant figures in Portuguese thermalism. The exhibition also highlights the decisive role played by Dr Mário Carneiro in enhancing the value of Thermal Water and modernising Chaves Thermal Spa.

As a new feature this year, the initiative includes a memory book, inviting visitors to leave messages, testimonies or recollections related to the Flaviense doctor, thus preserving the memory and legacy of someone who devoted much of his life to the promotion of thermalism.

Throughout decades of dedication, Dr Mário Carneiro was responsible for implementing new therapeutic practices, driving the construction of new bathhouses and promoting, nationally and internationally, the unique benefits of Flaviense Thermal Water. His visionary work remains a benchmark and continues to inspire generations connected to thermalism.
